Island Hopping

Hey it's been a while since I updated the blog and what other way to update the blog than by telling you my very recent vacation. The news came before the day we were supposed to leave, She (My Aunt) told me we were going to do Island Hopping. I was like "What?" because I haven't done that before (yeah I know wtf right?) so I packed my swim wear cause duh, clothes made of light material because I knew it was going to be very hot and other essentials. On the day we were going to leave, i woke up late (yep seems like every other day to me) and of course I hurried everything. I didn't bother thinking about what I was going to wear, so I just pulled out my light denim-colored dress and slipped on my mandals. I didn't even eat breakfast! we were going to the port of Naval in the province of Biliran so we could get to the island. It was a good 1 hour drive from Tacloban. Of course since this was my first time it was also my first time to ride on a pump boat and boy was I scared. When I boarded the boat, my head started spinning in circles. The water had a lot of waves that day and I felt seasick (I didn't throw up though). My Aunt felt seasick too because it was also her first time but thankfully, she too didn't throw up. That could've been a problem. Once we were off, it wasn't tipping from side to side anymore so my headache ceased. we were off to an island named Sambawan. Since the boat was quite big, the others slept, ate, while I listened to music. It's a good thing I brought my earphones because the noise of the engine was deafening. Then after for what seemed like hours (It seemed like hours because your surroundings never seem to change, all you could see was the ocean) we finally arrived! yay! when it came into view, it was so beautiful. I couldn't wait to finally eat! I was starving! So after we unloaded our things, we started grilling fish and some other seafood. Meanwhile, I couldn't keep my hands off the camera because I took lots of pictures. Here are some of them.

Then after the photo fiasco, I attacked the food. I was really hungry. Damn was it delicious. After eating I didn't want to swim because I felt too tired that day and it was scorching hot so I decided to just stay at the hut. Then it was time to move on to the next island where we were supposed to stay the night. I stayed outside the cabin and enjoyed the sea breeze but as we moved farther away from Sambawan, I looked at the water and it was getting darker so I felt really scared and decided to go back to the cabin. When Sambawan was out of sight, the engine suddenly stopped. My heart pounded so fast. The crew went down to the engine room immediately and tried to fix the problem, but it looked like the engine had given up completely. Oh my God. I was so scared because we were in the middle of nowhere and there was no land for miles. Not to mention that it was starting to get dark. Breathe Celina, Breathe. I told myself. The Others looked completely fine while I was close to freaking out. How did they stay so calm!? The Crew decided to call rescue. Some more bad news, they called the rescue and it seemed like the rescue would come from Cebu. WHAT THE HECK. WE WERE IN LEYTE AND OUR RESCUE WOULD COME FROM CEBU?! The crew turned on the rescue light, but there was still no one in sight. We waited for 2 hours and did all we could. We flicked our flashlight on and off to signal that we needed some rescuing but still no one. Since we were at a stand still, the boat started tipping from side to side. Aggressively. The wind was starting to pick up speed too. More bad news. The rescue said he couldn't see us because our rescue light was so faint. People weren't still panicking. Am I the only sane person here? I though to myself.

I silently prayed to God to keep us safe. Then after what seemed like forever, there was a bright light and ALLELUIA there was our rescue boat! The crew started shouting and started flailing their hands in the air to signal that we were here. I couldn't wait to get to our resort and be on dry land again. Th rescue boat tugged our boat and we were on our way to the resort. I prayed a thank you to God. The boat ride since our engine stopped was worth 2 Microtrip games, 1 edit of a photo at VSCO and 1 chapter of Wattpad.

Then our resort came into view. It was called Hagdan Beach Resort

YAY DRY LAND. I JUST COULDN'T WAIT TO CRASH ON THE BED. I was exhausted.

I took a quick shower (surprisingly the water was sea water and my soap and shampoo didn't lather up) and changed into my sleeping wear. I ate dinner read a few chapters of Wattpad and finally fell asleep.

The Next Day, my mom woke me up because she wanted me to enjoy the view since we were at the topmost room. DAMN IT WAS BEAUTIFUL.

I didn't bother to take a picture because I just wanted to enjoy it and feel the early morning breeze. I went downstairs and some of the kids and adults were already awake. Some even went swimming already. They were trying to avoid the hot sun. The adults and some teens my age went kayaking. I still didn't want to swim because I didn't feel like it and just went kayaking with my cousin instead.

This picture was taken by my sister because obviously I was kayaking.

When it was too hot to Kayak, I showered and changed into a white shirt, a denim button front skirt, and slipped on my mandals since it was the only sandal I brought with me. We stayed until lunch time and took some Pictures because why not?

Then as our service boat finally came, it was time to go home. Once we reached the port of Naval, I still felt a little a woozy because the only vehicle i rode on the whole trip was a boat and i felt like I was tipping from side to side but hey I enjoyed the trip, even if there were some minor, okay maybe major shortcomings. XOXO, Celina
